Years ago a young mother and her baby entered the United States to seek a career. She found a man and lived happily with her daughter until the daughter became a teenager. Then she found a new man. He was a lawyer and specialist in immigration rights. Unfortunately the daughter didn’t fit very well into the new family. When a half-sibling came into the picture it got worse.
For the step-father to be constantly reminded that his wife had a product from a previous relationship must have been stressful. That is perhaps why he planned such a cruel destiny for the daughter using his knowledge as an immigration lawyer. He lured her back to Russia so she could meet her birthfather. While abroad he saw to that she could not return. Years later the daughter is still stuck in Siberia. When she came to this remote part of Russia she couldn’t even speak the language.
Now she has been moving out of her father’s home to avoid the alcoholic fathers and was supporting herself at a local hotel until the media in Russia published an article making her look as very evil. Her education and her career options are destroyed. The Russian schools are not designed to pick up a student who have studied in another country with poor skills in their language.
Fortunately the story about her ordeal was picked up internationally. In many countries the actions of the father would have been seen as a criminal act. It is well-known and documented that such a stay abroad caused emotional damage and it is costly for the school system in both countries because it would demand an extreme effort from teachers and counselors to help the student back to a normal life.
